A truck took both legs on her right side. She survived.

The residents of Simtoka called us about a dog that had been hit by a truck. The truck had run over her right side and severed both her front and back legs on that side. She was bleeding heavily when we reached her — the rescue team’s read was that she had minutes left.

The wounds healed slowly. We had begun preparing her for prosthetics when, before we could fit them, she pulled herself up on her two remaining legs and started hopping. She had decided, on her own timeline, what her recovery would look like.

She is gentle now with the new rescues and patient with the frightened ones. We see this often in animals that have come through the worst injuries.

Mani’s rescue happened in time because the residents of Simtoka called, and we could get there fast. Your donations are what we put into the team and the vehicles that respond to those calls.
